Daredevil
Pressured by his father, professional boxer “Battling Jack” Murdock, a young Matt Murdock eschewed sports and focused on his studies. When the neighborhood kids began teasing him and calling him “Daredevil” ironically, Matt began to train physically as well. One fateful day, Matt pushed a blind man out of the way of a crashing truck. Struck in the eyes by a mysterious radioactive fluid the truck was carrying, Matt found his vision was gone, but in its place was a “radar sense.” He also found that all of his other senses had been heightened to superhuman levels. Using his new powers, Murdock began his career as the masked vigilante Daredevil.
Shredder
When his older brother was killed by Hamato Yoshi over a woman, Oroku Saki joined the Foot Clan to gain the skills necessary to enact his revenge. Eventually becoming one of their finest warriors, Saki took on the name Shredder and was given domain over the Foot’s American operations. After taking his revenge upon Yoshi and his lover, Shredder was confronted by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who had been trained by Yoshi’s pet rat/inadvertent martial arts disciple. In the end, the Turtles won out against Shredder who seemingly died after sustaining serious injuries.
